PROFILES

Architectural Metal Precision offers various application options including vertical, horizontal, diagonal, herringbone, random width, splayed, tapered, convex, concave, curved, continuous seam, perforated and embossed, dependent on the profile and material chosen.

Batten Roll/Seam

Batten roll/seam is a timeless and traditional technique portraying a classic aesthetic. It requires timber battens and plywood substrate, and uses custom made panels with prominent seams (an average of 45mm) which create captivating shadow effects.

Cassette

Similar to interlocking but with a bigger panel size, cassette is perfect for covering larger areas or when using a heavy gauge material. Battens are necessary for this technique which uses concealed fixings and has bolder recessed express joins. It is a cost-effective non-combustible alternative to composite cladding and works especially well with aluminium, stainless steel and weathering steel.

Flatlock

Evoking a soft and delicate appearance, flatlock works with interconnecting panels to create a detailed tiled pattern with hairline joins. It requires a substrate, uses concealed fixings and is the flattest profile making it ideal for slim walls. Furthermore, a recessed option is available which produces deeper express lines.

Interlocking

Suitable for wall application only, interlocking presents a very modern, stylish and sleek finish, producing recessed express joins which create appealing shadow lines. Battens are necessary for this lightweight and low-maintenance technique which uses concealed fixings.

Nailstrip

Nailstrip technique resembles double lock standing seam and gives a contemporary finish. It is available in 25mm and 38mm rib, requires a substrate for roof application and does not need clips. This profile demands little upkeep and is great when working with Colorbond® steel, galvanised steel and stainless steel.

Shingles

A timeless and traditional technique emanating a beautiful, decorative and intricate aesthetic. Shingles can be installed in various sizes and patterns using customised shapes - such as diamond scales or a tiled brick design - and produces hairline joins. A substrate is necessary for this slim profile which uses interconnecting panels and concealed fixings.

Snaplock

Snaplock is a low-maintenance profile resembling standing seam and giving a modern look. It is available in 25mm and 38mm rib, works particularly well with Colorbond® steel, galvanised steel and stainless steel, and requires a substrate for roof application.

Standing Seam

This renowned technique is very versatile, capable of capturing either a timeless and traditional appeal, or a more contemporary and modern finish. Standing seam is available in 25mm and 38mm rib, uses concealed fixings and necessitates a substrate for roof application. Furthermore, double lock (rather than single lock) standing seam is a recommended option for very low pitch roofs or in areas that are exposed to high wind and rain.

MATERIALS

Architectural Metal Precision offers various specification options regarding the gauge, colour, finish, panel width and panel length, dependent on the material and profile chosen.

Aluminium

An affordable mid- to high-end option, this metal is lightweight and malleable, resilient to the Australian climate and great for coastal environments. Vestis aluminium (sourced from Italy) includes the Pro range which provides a matt finish, the Nebula range which offers a textured matt finish, the Metallics range, as well as the Coppers range, all available in a variety of colours.

Brass

Brass has a timeless and rich appeal, is very decorative and is ideal for heritage as well as contemporary feature and architectural projects. Its distinguishing lustrous golden-yellow colour produces a golden-brown patina if allowed to oxidise. Leading manufacturer Aurubis source their brass - which is very malleable, long-lasting and highly resistant to corrosion - from Finland.

Bronze

Similar to brass, this elegant material also has a timeless aesthetic, particularly sought after for decorative and artistic works. Bronze has a reddish-brown hue that also forms a patina over time, and is well-known for its longevity and durability.

Colorbond® Steel

This iconic coated steel is made in Australia for Australian conditions, ensuring durability as well as resistance to chipping, flaking and blistering. Manufactured by BlueScope Steel, Colorbond® steel is available in a generous palette of colours within its 5 ranges (Contemporary, Classic, Matt, Metallic & Ultra) and provides a modern finish at an affordable price.

Copper

This noble metal emanates luxury with its natural beauty, often favoured by architects and designers. Renowned for its longevity and non-ferrous properties, copper is also a very malleable material. Initially appearing its distinctive lustrous pinkish-orange, when allowed to patinate it will evolve to an earthy brown and eventually form a green or even bluish patina depending on the conditions it is exposed to. For a pre-patinated option, the Aurubis Nordic range (sourced from Finland) offers copper in various colours which are produced by applying man-made surface treatments to control the oxidisation.

Galvanised Steel

One of the more economical materials, galvanised steel portrays a raw and industrial look and has a spangled silver finish. It is strong and sturdy making it well-suited for high-traffic areas as well as coastal environments, and is a popular choice for both traditional and modern projects.

Stainless Steel

This shiny silver-coloured metal presents smooth and clean with a striking appearance, sought after for its strength as much as its modern aesthetic. Stainless steel is very durable and corrosion-resistant, making it perfect for marine surroundings.

Titanium Zinc

Rheinzink (Germany), VMZinc (France), elZinc (Spain) and zintek® (Italy) are all reputable manufacturers of this very malleable, non-ferrous and long-lasting metal. Mill finished titanium zinc first appears as shiny silvery-grey and will naturally oxidise to a darker matt grey over time. Alternative finishes include pre-weathered and textured, as well as in an array of colours produced by using high quality pigments.

Unicote® Lux

This innovative pre-painted patterned steel offers texture and depth in a variety of unique finishes including Weathered Iron and Ashwood. Created for bespoke architectural projects, Unicote® Lux is also durable and well-suited to the Australian climate.

Weathering Steel (Corten)

Weathering steel (Corten) gives a rusted appearance once oxidised, capturing a natural and earthy aesthetic. It is a popular material for contemporary and decorative projects and altogether complementary in rural surroundings.

Zincalume® Steel

Another cost-effective option, Zincalume® steel is a metallic coated steel portraying a similar colour to raw aluminium. This material is strong, corrosion-resistant as well as lightweight, and is manufactured in Australia by BlueScope Steel.
